Old English Game Bantam Juvenile & Adults
Plucky, hearty and darn near indestructible! We always joke that our Old English Game Bantams will save us in the event of an apocalypse due to their crazy-good feed conversion and abundant egg production. They also seem to be very disease resistant as we haven’t had one get sick on us yet (praise the Lord!). They are literally the lowest maintenance chicken we have on the farm, with our Ayam Cemani right behind them!
These little birdies are very easy to get along with, and if lovingly handled as chicks, they make GREAT chickens for kids (despite misinformation about them being an aggressive breed).
You may wonder what a tiny little chicken sounds like….and let me tell you, their vocalizations are sooo CUTE! They make all the same sounds as a normal sized chicken, but not as loud and with a distinct squeaky pitch (their “hen song” is hilarious!).
And for prospective chicken-parents who entertain, or simply enjoy a perfect hard-boiled egg, THIS is your breed! Their eggs are thee PERFECT size and shape for elegant cocktail-sized snacks; they are bite sized and hard boil incredibly well! What’s not to love about these little Brits?? ♥
